SADA helps Yuba Community College District save $40 000 in Annual IT Costs

While Yuba Community College District (YCCD) provided email for its faculty and staff, it did not yet offer email to students. As the demand for greater collaboration and better communication capabilities increased, YCCD needed to provide a robust communication solution for thousands of students and staff. Faced with growing budget constraints and a limited IT staff, YCCD evaluated and chose the Microsoft Live@edu, a no-cost suite of communication and collaboration services hosted by Microsoft.

With the help of SADA Systems, YCCD adopted Microsoft Live@edu and provisioned 85,000 accounts for staff, faculty and students. SADA assisted the district in implementing Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager 2007, Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services, Microsoft Password Change Notification Service and Microsoft Live@edu.

“SADA Systems had the right technical expertise, and we achieved our goal of having everyone on the same messaging and collaboration solution so students can access all the Live@edu services with a single password,” says Karen Trimble, Director, Information Technologies at Yuba Community College District.

The move saved the district over $40,000 in annual licensing and maintenance costs. The most recognizable, and arguably most helpful benefit, is the improvement of IT staff productivity by 10 percent! YCCD students are more productive with anywhere, anytime access to email, coursework, calendars, and contacts.
