“SADA’s level of professionalism was top-rate compared to other providers in the industry, and we plan to work with SADA for other Office 365 and cloud-based initiatives.”
– Brad Ellis, IT Infrastructure & Operations Manager, Roland DGA
Roland DGA Corporation is the fully-owned, US-based subsidiary of Roland DG Corporation in Japan, who provides complete sales, marketing and customer support services throughout the Americas for digital graphics and large format printing. Roland DGA today markets its products through an extensive dealer network serving the western hemisphere in marketing and sales.
Roland DGA was running off Exchange 2007, and experiencing pain points around email, their primary driver of productivity. A majority of orders are placed through Roland DGA’s email system, and after a series of outages which brought business to a standstill, Brad Ellis, IT Infrastructure & Operations Manager, decided that the company’s business practices did not benefit from attempting to maintain a 9-5 highly-available IT environment. Ellis evaluated Microsoft’s cloud solution, Office 365, and found the platform was able to provide the uptime that Roland DGA required, with a 99.99% guaranteed uptime Service Level Agreement (SLA). Additionally, Roland DGA’s parent company, Roland DG Corporation, had already moved to Office 365, and provided positive feedback around the platform. To gain increased and cohesive collaboration benefits from utilizing a singular comprehensive platform, Roland DGA made the decision to move to Office 365 for Business.
Ellis brought on SADA Systems as an implementation partner to assist with the roll out of Office 365 to its employees. The SADA team worked closely with Ellis and Roland DGA to ensure that the project plan went according to schedule. Along with a full migration to the cloud for all users, SADA provided Roland DGA with a Single Sign-On (SSO) solution via Active Directory Federation Services as well as full directory integration for better management of their Office 365 environment. SADA also worked with Roland to ensure that federation was configured with Roland DGA to share Free/Busy information between Office 365 tenancies for better overall company integration. The overall solution ensured best of breed integration and management of their cloud environment. SADA also took steps to guarantee that Roland DGA was able to take advantage of advanced features of the cloud platform, like Office 365 archiving.
Results and Benefits:
Reception to Office 365 following deployment is extremely positive for Roland DGA, with very high levels of adoption. Employees currently enjoy the benefits of anywhere, anytime access to email over the device of their choice. Roland DGA has also rolled out Lync as a presence, instant messaging, voice and video solution, which enables quick collaboration and facilitation of online meetings. Roland DGA is currently looking for ways to further integrate SharePoint, and is looking to implement SharePoint Online as a future solution.
“We really do appreciate SADA as a partner,” said Ellis. “SADA’s level of professionalism was top-rate compared to other providers in the industry, and we plan to work with SADA for other Office 365 and cloud-based initiatives.”
