Office 365 update: increased SharePoint Online upload limits
Microsoft Office 365 users have even more exciting updates to the Office 365 platform to enjoy! After the announcement that Exchange Online mailbox sizes have increased to 50GB, and that SkyDrive Pro cloud storage raised to 25GB for SharePoint Online users (a 3x increase!), Microsoft ups the ante with SharePoint Online, announcing higher file size limit uploads.
The improvements don’t stop there – the Office 365 Technology Blog also announced the following changes to the SharePoint Online user experience:
-
Improved file upload experience
An increased file upload limit from 250MB to 2 GB with increased support for a broader range of file types, including CAD drawings, video files, larger project documents and more! Executable files and Windows dynamic-link library files were formerly unavailable, which created syncing failures for users – now that SharePoint Online supports .exe and .dll files -
Increased Site collection and list lookup limits
An increased site collection limit to 10,000 per tenant (an increase from 3,000) and list lookup threshold to 12 relationships, increasing the depth and accuracy of custom solution sites -
Improved self-restoration
An increased recycle bin retention duration and turning versioning on by default for new SkyDrive Pro libraries, so users can more effectively maintain their own lifecycle management content systems and recover from accidental deletions.
We’re excited to see how our Office 365 clients will be leveraging these updates to the platform!
