Announcing: Windows 8.1!


As of yesterday, Microsoft issued an announcement that Windows 8.1 is available to its commercial customers and partners! We welcome back the “Start” button to the Windows desktop, as well as a range of new features and improvements to Windows 8 that will allow users to benefit from a powerful, flexible operating system across any device they choose.

For Office 365 users who might have noticed a slew of enhancements to the platform for manageability, security and mobility over the past few months, Windows 8.1 carries the trend over, with design changes tailored to increase productivity with connected mobile scenarios.

Other changes include:

  • Boot to Desktop option

  • Global Search function, powered by Bing

  • Deeper integration with SkyDrive as the default location to store new documents, with placeholder files allowing fast access to files, anywhere, anytime

  • Auto-updated apps

  • Customizable live tile sizes
