NoHo FreeNET – a project developed by SADA – has served the central NoHo Arts District area since 2006 and has eventual plans to blanket all of NoHo with free, wireless internet. The network is supported by business and community partners who agree to serve as locations for “wireless access points,” devices that broadcast an internet signal to laptop computers and other devices that have wireless internet or “Wi-Fi” capability. Increasingly, not just laptop manufacturers but makers of devices such as phones, data devices and game devices are including Wi-Fi in their products.
